The Elixir of Love (opera in two acts)

L'elisir d'amore (English: The Elixir of Love) is an opera buffa in two acts by Gaetano Donizetti, with a libretto by Felice Romani based on Eugène Scribe's libretto for Daniel-François-Esprit Auber's opera Le philtre (1831). 

The plot revolves around the peasant Nemorino, who loves the rich Adina but is rejected by her. A quack doctor named Dulcamara sells Nemorino a ‘love potion’ that turns out to be wine. Meanwhile, the soldier Belcore meets Adina, whom he wants to marry. Nemorino ignores Adina, which surprises and makes her jealous. Adina realises her feelings and breaks up with Belcore. Nemorino believes that the potion has worked, and they become a happy couple.
