Opera: Tosca

Tosca ‘in abridged version’ is a performance of Giacomo Puccini's opera, which has been shortened, with a smaller orchestra and, in some cases, cuts in the music and revised orchestration.
The opera is set in Rome in 1800 during the Napoleonic Wars. It tells a dramatic story of love and power between art, politics and personal tragedy.
Tosca is one of the most frequently performed operas of all time – a gripping melodrama of love, power and betrayal that became world-famous thanks to Puccini's expressive music.
Puccini's Tosca tells the tragic story of the singer Floria Tosca, her lover Mario Cavaradossi and the power-hungry police chief Scarpia. Out of love, Tosca becomes entangled in a web of betrayal, torture and blackmail – ultimately leading to the deaths of Cavaradossi and Tosca.
