Food & wine
Gourmet restaurants, pleasant cafés, warm bistrots and wine bars, with menus offering both local specialties from Alto Adige and Mediterranean cuisine: canederli and spaghetti, strudel and tiramisu.
The surrounding mountain slopes are carpeted with the northernmost vineyards in Italy. Creative winemakers and the nearby cellars of the Abbey of Novacella produce some excellent
wines.
Visitors can also taste the
typical specialties of the Val d’Isarco in the traditional inns and taverns in the surrounding towns and countryside. In Autumn there’s the traditional
“Törggelen”, new wine tasting accompanied by roasted chestnuts and “Schlutzkrapfen” (large spinach-filled ravioli).
